March 20 • Interpreters of God

Lord, I see Your acts, but may I have the privilege of knowing Your ways? “He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel” (Psalm 103:7).

I thank You, Lord, for Your dealings with Abraham. “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?” (Genesis 18:17). You took him behind the scenes and showed him not only what but why. To take a human being behind the scenes is always a sign of maturity in the school of discipleship. All believers can see what God has done after the fact; but deep disciples see those actions before the fact. However, the greatest disciples are those who see why God is doing what He is doing before the fact.

What the world sadly needs is interpreters of God, not merely prophets. Being infinite, God is so often misunderstood. This misunderstanding alienates men from God. The acts of God must be explained to men, and God is always seeking persons like Abraham and Moses to understand His mind and then translate for men.

What a perfect Interpreter Jesus was! He was interpretation in the flesh. To the extent that I let God’s message be manifest in my flesh, to that extent I become the best interpreter of God’s ways! What a privilege God extends to us, to become His interpreter to men! Imagine being a “letter of Christ … written … with the Spirit” to be read by all men (2 Corinthians 3:3)!

“No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him” (John 1:18).
